The road season has only just started and the Vacansoleil / DCM cycling team has already performed with remarkable results. The youngsters in the team have adapted well in the Pro Tour team. Thomas De Gendt won the first stage in Paris-Nice and thus captured the leader's jersey. Main sponsor of the Paris-Nice stage race, Vacansoleil, was very pleased with the Vacansoleil/DCM stage win. The Vacansoleil/DCM team showed great form in this race. Vacansoliel / DCM rider Matteo Carrara, finished in 11th place in the GC, which ultimately was won by Tony Martin.
In Tirreno-Adriatico Wout Poels showed his class. In the fifth stage, Wout Poels finished second in second place just behind Gilbert. In stage six, it was again Wout Poels who showed his talent on a very difficult course. He finished in an excellent sixth place in the stage which was won by Evans. Wout Poels finished in 18th place in this difficult Tirreno-Adriatico won by Cadel Evans.
